Chasing Butterflies 66 MYA

Roughly 66 million years ago, the earth endured a shock that changed the course of its history.   This cataclysm all but completely decimated one of the larges animal species fortunate enough to have established a deep evolutionary lineage on this planet. The day must have started just like any other, in a season equivalent to the height of summer with perhaps a speck of abnormality in the sky. This speck exponentially becoming larger, clearer and unavoidable. One can imagine any possible awareness of the event being completely nonexistent by the life forms on earth, until the catastrophic aftermath darkened the sky. An instantaneous shift from life to death.
